Mary Brown Shorts

Mary J. Brown Shorts, 93, of Butler went home to be with the Lord on Saturday at the Saxony Health Center where she lived after a short illness.

Born in Butler, June 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. Brown and Clara Stickle Brown.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Butler. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Butler. During her life she worked various jobs, but her main purpose was being a homemaker, raising her four children and enjoying her many grandchildren in her later years. She was an animal lover and would take in any stray cat that came along. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Shorts and his wife, Sandy of Cortland, Ohio, and Tom Shorts of Butler; one daughter, with whom she shared a home, Sharon Norris of Butler; her daughter-in-law, Sue Koegler of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Tina Sindledecker and her husband, Brian, Mary Ann Minette, Kevin Shorts and his wife, Sally, Tammi Rossi and her husband, Chris, Bill Norris and his wife, April, Joe Norris and his fiancee, Jaecey, Janine Thoma and her husband, Matt, Tiffany Kriberney and her husband, Andy, Andraya Gealey and her husband, Bill, and Rob Shorts and his wife, Jackie; and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Shorts, who passed away March 16, 1975; one son, Larry Shorts; and one grandson, Rory Shorts.

<B>SHORTS</B> — Friends of Mary J. Brown Shorts, who passed away on Saturday Dec. 31, 2011, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at noon at the funeral home with Pastor John Neyman of Homewood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Brownsdale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
