We celebrate the life of Luella Mae Ferguson Kaufman, who passed away at the age of 96 on Saturday.

Luella was born on April 30, 1915.

She was the beloved wife of the late Vernon C. (Jake) Kaufman.

She is survived by her son, Larry Kaufman; her daughters, Beverly Kaufman and Judy Kaufman Greer (John); grandchildren, Dr. Julia Greer and Jay Greer (Pam); great- grandchildren, Kate, Matthew and Sam Greer; sisters, Hazel Funk and Viola Kling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luella was a longtime resident of Valencia, and she was a loyal member of the Valencia United Presbyterian Church, the Mars Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Butler Country Club.

She was raised in Hampton with her four sisters and three brothers on the Ferguson Dairy Farm, owned by her parents, Clarence and Nettie Ferguson.

She married Jake Kaufman on April 20, 1938, and assisted Jake in the family business of roofing and heating as long as it didn't interfere with her tee times.

She lived a rich and wonderful life, was a close friend to many, traveled to numerous foreign countries, was highly artistic, golfed avidly and made the best coconut cream pie that you could ever taste.

McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be at the Valencia United Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. James Kirk, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
