Injured state trooper listed in fair condition

EAST FRANKLIN TWP — A state police trooper, injured Wednesday when a car hit him as he cleared debris from the ramp from Route 422 onto Route 28, was in fair condition at UPMC Presbyterian as of this afternoon.

According to a statement released Friday by state police, Sgt. Kenneth Markilinski suffered injuries to his head and back, but does not appear to have any broken bones. He still is being evaluated by doctors.

Markilinski serves as station commander of the Gibsonia barracks.

Police still are seeking the hit-and-run driver who struck Markilinski, who was believed to be driving a dark-colored passenger vehicle. The car has damage to its front, driver’s side. The crash happened about 6:45 a.m.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash should call police at 724-543-2011.
