Rev. Paul M. Smith

The Rev. Paul M. Smith, 85, of Emlenton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning at UPMC-Passavant, North Hills, following a two-week illness.

Paul was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

A graduate of Anderson College, now Anderson University, in Indiana, he served seven different Church of God pastorates in Pennsylvania from 1953 through 1990. Locally, he was at Parker from 1964 to 1968.

Paul also worked for three years at Warner Press in Anderson, Ind., and was manager of Whitehall Church of God Campground at Emlenton for three years.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Deckard Smith, who he married July 11, 1948, and his daughter and son, Cindy (Donald) Workman of New Castle, and Dean (Karen) Smith of Anderson, Ind. Four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, a brother and nieces and nephews also survive him.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. His son, Dennis W. Smith, died on Dec. 29, 2004.

A funeral service follows at 7:15 p.m. with the Rev.
