Dale G. Ferguson
Dale G. Ferguson, 90, of Brandywine Village died Saturday morning at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1922, in Chugwater, Platte County, Wyo., he was a son of the late George E. and Jessie P. (Bechtel) Ferguson.
Dale was a retired self-employed farmer and carpenter, was a member of the Mariners of Pennsylvania and had enjoyed organic gardening and wood working.
A veteran of World War II, Dale served in the Merchant Marines, where his ship was one of the first ships in at D-Day. Also, his ship had hit two mines as it was forced out of service.
Surviving are his wife, Anna B. (Willoughby) Ferguson, who he married Sept. 16, 1944; one daughter, Diane B. and John Marano of Butler; two granddaughters, Tara Orcutt Side and Karrie (Tyson) Geibel; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dale Ferguson, who died in 2007; one brother; and six sisters.
FERGUSON — Friends of Dale G. Ferguson, who died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home.
