Dorothy Louise Miller Thomas, 87, of Slippery Rock, Scott Township, Lawrence County, passed away at Edison Manor, New Castle, at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Born on Aug. 6, 1925, she was the daughter of Gilbert Miller and Elizabeth Newman Miller.

She married George Mars Thomas Jr. on Nov. 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2012.

She was a secretary at West Penn Power in Pittsburgh until she had her children. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and knitting and was a lifelong member of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Her survivors include a son, George M. (Maria) Thomas III of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Barbara (Curt) Brown of Eckley, Colo.; a brother, William Miller of Greenlane, Pa.; a sister, Betty (Henry) Berends of Downingtown, Pa; five grandchildren, Erin Frank, Kathleen Burns, Shawn Brown, Caitlyn Brown and Meghan Claypoole; and four great-grandchildren, Cassidy Claypoole, Taylor Frank, Arya Burns and Carson Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

THOMAS — Funeral services for Dorothy Louise Miller Thomas, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, will be at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 7 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Brady Randall, pastor of Harlansburg Presbyterian Church, presiding.Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m.Interment will be at Unity Baptist Cemetery, Harlansburg, PA
