Truck crashes into house

JEFFERSON TWP — A pickup truck hit a house on Freeport Road on Saturday morning, but no one was injured.

According to neighbors, an older model pickup truck was headed north on Freeport road when the woman behind the wheel lost control of the truck and crossed the southbound lane before crashing into the 2.5-story farmhouse at 430 Freeport Road about 9:15 a.m.

One neighbor said the driver appeared uninjured while talking on her cell phone outside the truck shortly after the accident.

The front end of the truck was crumpled from the impact, but the foundation of the home did not appear damaged, the neighbor said.

The homeowner is Phillip Roweser, according to county property transfer records, but the home is rented by Earl Smith. Neighbors were unsure if Smith was home when the accident occurred.

Ambulances and the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department were among the emergency responders on the scene.
