County gets fresh blanket of snow
Butler County residents are shoveling out again after more snow Friday night, though the weather was tamer than what was forecast.
Butler County received four to eight inches of snow, with southern parts of the county having more accumulation, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
Four inches of snow had already fallen Thursday night.
Although a winter weather warning remained in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday, none of the expected deeper snow or sleet fell in the county.
“That just hit the southern tip of Allegheny County and points south and east,” said Lee Hendricks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
John Hines, Slippery Rock Township public works director, said about four inches of snow did not present many problems for the township.
“The roads are cleaning up very well. We were well-prepared, and we had all the equipment ready to go,” he said Saturday morning.
Jason Dailey, director of public works for Cranberry Township, said his crews plowed between five and eight inches of snow along their 13 routes.
“We’ve had crews out since about 9:30 last night,” Dailey said.
“Just about every road is open and passable at this point (8 a.m. Saturday).”
