Making a 'statement'
The story of the band Scene Stage the World began about three years ago when two friends met playing in their own separate bands at area shows.
As time went on and those bands broke up, vocalist Adam Osche, 21, and drummer Jordan Gibson, 20, both from Butler, started jamming together.
“It was kind of just for fun, but serious at the same time,” Gibson said.
They recorded their first demo album in the fall of 2010.
“We wanted to make music that appeals to everyone, but also influencing people in a positive way,” Gibson said.
Shortly after the demo was released, vocalist Brian Campbell, 21, also from Butler, joined the band.
But the group was still missing a vital part: a bass player.
The trio kept searching but could not find a permanent bass player. “We just kept hoping we would find someone when we played our first show. We didn’t want to keep playing shows with a bass player that was just filling it,” said Campbell.
They got their wish. They met their permanent bass player, Cris Hughes, 20, of Evans City, at the first show they played.
“For the first time we had a full band with permanent members. We just meshed perfectly,” Gibson said.
This past spring, the four members of Scene Stage the World played their first show together. They opened for national act called “awolnation.”
The band plays Butler County venues like the Rock House in Slippery Rock.
In the fall, the band released its debut album “statements,” which features eight original songs of different styles and genres.
