HARMONY — Harmony will celebrate New Year’s Eve on Saturday

Mars’ New Year plannedMARS — The Mars Historical Society will host a community New Year’s Eve celebration from 9 p.m. Saturday until the first few minutes of the new year in the area of the spaceship downtown.Music, movies, free hot dogs with sauerkraut and hot chocolate will be available. Lights on the spaceship will usher in the New Year at midnight sharp.

History center free to vetsPITTSBURGH — All U.S. veterans and current servicemen and servicewomen plus one guest will receive free admission through Friday to the Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St.The exhibit “Stars and Stripes: An American Story” continues through June 17.Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except closed Sunday for New Year’s Day.Regular admission is $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens age 62 and older, $5 for students with ID and for children ages 4 to 17, and free for children 3 and younger. Joan Osborne concert setZELIENOPLE — The Strand Theater Initiative has booked ’90s pop musician Joan Osborne to play an acoustic duo concert with keyboardist/vocalist Keith Cotton at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the theater, 119 N. Main St.Osborne may be best known for her hit single ”One of Us” from her debut album “Relish” released in 1995, which sold more than 5 million copies worldwide and garnered seven Grammy nominations.Refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the artist immediately following the performance will be available in a heated tent arranged by the Red Cross.Reserve seating is $45 and available by calling 724-742-0400 or visiting www.thestrandtheater.org.From every ticket sold, $15 will be donated to the American Red Cross in Butler County.

‘Charlotte’s Web’ stagedJACKSON TWP — “Charlotte’s Web,” a Pittsburgh premiere performed by Theatreworks USA and presented by Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, will be staged at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 at Seneca Valley Senior High School.Other performance locations include: Byham Theater at 2 p.m
