Butler Intermediate High School choirs will present a holiday choral concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 15th in the intermediate high school auditorium. Performing groups will include the Mixed Chorus, Girls Chorus, Girls Ensemble and Mixed Ensemble. The concert will feature two vocal solos, performed by Daniel Terwilliger and Amanda Sybert. Admission is free. In conjunction with the concert, the secondary art department will present its Empty Bowls event from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school lobby. For a donation of $10, patrons can select a student-made ceramic pottery bowl and receive a serving of soup. Proceeds support local hunger-fighting organizations. In case of inclement weather on Dec. 15, the date for the concert will be Dec. 16.

Rock at Knoch Battle of the Bands is scheduled for 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday in the Knoch High School auditorium on Dinnerbell Road in Jefferson Township. Doors open at 5 p.m. Bands scheduled to perform include Until the Daybreak, With No Disguise, Wrong and Strong, These Three Words, Mighty, Janet's Pet Planet and Back to the Good Stuff. <B>Music in a Great Space</B> presents a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. Sunday at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, 5121 Westminster Place. Based on the service begun at King’s College, Cambridge, in 1918, the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols traditionally begins with the hymn “Once in Royal David’s City.” The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of a Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is then told through a series of Scripture readings, carols, and hymns.
