Christmas Memories

Maddy Fulmer strives for a better view of the Butler Spirit of Christmas Parade Nov. 19.

Here is what some Butler County residents relate about their memories of Christmas.

——“We come to the (Spirit of Christmas) parade every year. It gets you into the Christmas spirit and it lets (my son, Jamey) see the parade. Floats, and things like that. There aren't too many parades around.”

Shawna Crissman,Lyndora

——“I'm a grandma and I always enjoy going to see my grandkids open their presents.”

Helen Hartman, Sarver

——“One memory is when I got my (Nintendo) Wii. I got it three years ago. I play on it a lot.”

Ashley Pierce, Chicora

——“When we first brought our first two girls to the parade. We came up and it was bitter cold. I was so excited to see my 18-month-old get to see Santa Claus. She saw Santa Claus and screamed. It was a good memory.”

Brenda Heider,Butler Township——“(Last year) I got a pillow pet. A dog. I use it all the time.”

Milena McCandless,Butler Township——“When I was little, my parents would take us out looking at Christmas lights. Just driving around in different housing plans. I miss that. It was a tradition.”

Linda Walker, Saxonburg

——“It's just the parade, coming with my grandparents. We always came every year. I came with my grandparents, and now, we're doing it with the kids.”

Mandy Wolford, Herman

——“A present I got was an Etch a Sketch, from an aunt of mine. It probably was when they first came out. That gives away my age, kind of.”

Kristen Stimpert,Meridian——“Probably the thing I remember was getting one of those runner sleds. I was probably 5 years old. I probably had that for 10 years. I lived on a farm, and we used to pull it by tractor.”

Larry Stimpert, Meridian
