Stephen L. Horkey
Stephen L. Horkey, 58, of West Sunbury passed away at 8:55 p.m. Monday at VA Butler Healthcare following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 13, 1953, in Butler, the son of the late Edward Horkey and the late Doris Smith Horkey.
He served 15 years with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the West Sunbury area and a member of the NRA.
He is survived by one son, Stephen L. Weaver and his wife, Melissa, of Slippery Rock; two grandchildren, Alysa and Austin Weaver; three sisters, Alta Fay McCommon of Butler, Laura Bender of Rimersburg and Catherine Ann Jack of Butler; and two brothers, Rodger “Eddie” Horkey of Pittsburgh and Richard Horkey and his wife, Brandi, of Fort Campbell, Ky. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.
<B>HORKEY </B>— Friends of Stephen L. Horkey, who died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, will be received at <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with family friend the Rev. Joseph Miller of the Saving Grace Baptist Church in Fonda, N.Y., officiating. Burial will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
