MARS — The Mars Band Boosters will host a three-hour concert featuring the Artie Shaw Orchestra at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Days Inn on Route 8.The Artie Shaw Orchestra is a nationally recognized swing-era jazz band.Shaw was a clarinetist, composer and leader of one of the most popular big bands of the late 1930s and early 1940s. JEFFERSON TWP — The Rock at Knoch Battle of the Bands is scheduled for 5 to 11:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the high school.Applications are being accepted for this contest. There is no entry fee, and bands will have 25 minutes of playing time.Bands will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
