Maxine Rowan Douthett, 88, of Warrendale died Tuesday evening at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Coraopolis, June 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Homer and Dorothy Lenore Weaver Rowan.

Maxine attended Marshall Elementary School, graduated from Mars High School and attended Pinkerton's Secretarial Business School.

She was proud to have worked for the War Department, Pittsburgh Army Ordnance Department, personnel director's secretary from 1942 to 1945.

She worked for four years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and then became the Marshall Township secretary/treasurer for 24 years, retiring in 1986.

She has volunteered at UPMC Passavant Hospital since 1988.

Maxine belonged to the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church of Wexford and the former United Presbyterian Church of Warrendale, where she was active in the choirs. Also, she was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Genealogy Society since 1975, the First Families of Western Pennsylvania and the DAR Kushkushkee Trail Chapter and was a treasurer and board member of the Cranberry Historical Society, the Cranberry Genealogy Club and the Cranberry Chorale.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Paul Graham Douthett, who she married Oct. 6, 1948; her children, Paula D. Latislaw and her husband, Douglas, of Los Angeles, Calif., Karen D. Troutman and her husband, Gilbert, of Edinboro, Pa., and Jeffrey Paul Douthett and his wife, Terri, of Springfield, Pa.; and her grandchildren, Rainey Rowan and Paul Douglas Latislaw of Van Nuys, Calif., Rebecca and Josh Troutman of Edinboro, Pa., and Tim and Amanda Stranen of Springfield, Pa.

Also she is survived by her sisters, Betty Peterson of South Pasadena, Calif., Dorothy Burgunder (John) of McKees Rocks, Marilyn Rowan of Foristell, Mo.; and a foster sister, Jan Kilbourn of Boynton, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lenore McMorran.

<B>DOUTHETT</B> — Friends of Maxine Rowan Douthett, who died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday. Services will be in the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 670 Pleasant Hills Road, Wexford, PA 15090 at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Corll, pastor, officiating.
