Eleanor M. (Nix) Mullin, 93, of Zelienople passed away Sept. 23 while under the care of UPMC Passavant Retirement Community.

Born Sept. 18, 1918, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Hoff) Nix.

After 20 years of dedicated service as a keypunch operator, Eleanor retired from U.S. Steel.

Eleanor had a love for writing poetry and had the honor of having two of her poems published by the National Poetry Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Mullin, former coordinator of the AFL-CIO, who died in July 1965; and three brothers, Larry, Earl and Don Nix.

She is survived by her sister, Alice Hodnicki of Cranberry Township; five nephews, Walter Menegazzi and his wife, Mary, of Cranberry Township, James Menegazzi and his wife, Kris, of Mt. Lebanon and Pete, Larry and Guy Nix, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three nieces, Jane Ellet of Hixon, Tenn., Susan Simms of Graysville, Tenn., and Linda Conley of Monaca; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Nix of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mildred Nix of Zelienople.

<B>MULLIN </B>— A memorial service for Eleanor M. (Nix) Mullin, who died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople with the Rev. Wilfred Goetze and Fr. John Rebel co-officiating.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s honor to the Passavant Benevolent Fund/LAS Foundation, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063 or to the Friends of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, 1629 Haine School Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, Zelienople, and online condolences are available at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
