Neff

Wendelin H. Neff, 78, of Chicora died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, following a short illness.

Born in Oakland Township, April 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Herman W. Neff and Mary Agnes Angert.

A 1952 Butler High School graduate, he worked a short time for Schaffer Motors. He then worked for Magnetics in East Butler from 1955 to 1966, after which he worked at Armco, now AK Steel, retiring in 1992. He also owned and worked oil wells from 1959 to 2004.

A U.S. Army veteran, he protected our country from 1953 to 1955, serving during the post Korean War years.

He was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora, the American Legion and the Chicora VFW.

In his younger days, Wendelin enjoyed water skiing, hunting and mechanical work.

Surviving are his wife, Marion Peters Neff, who he married Nov. 7, 1971; sons, Allen and Rebecca Neff of Chandler, Ariz., Scott and Beth Neff of Pittsburgh, Jason and Donna Neff of Erie, and Aaron and Heather Neff Alexandria, Va.; stepsons, Michael Robinson of Pittsburgh and Sean and Sherry Robinson of Apache, Okla.; grandchildren, Ryan and Zachary Neff of Erie, Jacob and Rachel Neff of Pittsburgh and Logan Neff of Alexandria, Va.; and step-grandchildren, Shaylon and Sebastian Robinson of New Kensington.

Also surviving are a sister, Catherine and Philip Graham of Greensburg; brothers, Joseph W. and Diana Neff of Chicora, Herman and Bridget Neff of Chicora, Benjamin Neff of Chicora, Patrick and Jean Neff of Chicora, Gerard “Jerry” and Donna Neff of Chicora, and Raymond and Jeanne Neff Saxonburg; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, Andrew and Thomas Neff.

<B>NEFF</B> — Friends of Wendelin H. Neff, who died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 N. Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora. A celebration of life funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mater Dolorosa Church, North Main Street, Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Pudichery officiating.
