John Henry Rathfon

John Henry Rathfon, 68, of Slippery Rock passed away Tuesday in Slippery Rock.

Born April 12, 1943, in Butler, he was the son of Josephine Kurtzhals Rathfon of Bruin and the late John G. Rathfon.

He was baptized Catholic.

He graduated from the Fairview Township-Karns City School District. and attended Robert Morris College, earning an associates degree in accounting.

Mr. Rathfon was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, serving with the air police in Okinawa. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion organizations.

He was employed by the T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. of Butler for more than 25 years in several capacities.

He was a member of the East Butler Hunting and Fishing Club as well as the American Legion.

In addition to his mother of Bruin, surviving are one sister, Yvonne A. (Dominic) DeBacco of Chicora; two brothers, Dr. James D. (Judy) Rathfon of Butler and J. Bradley (Bonnie) Rathfon of Sharon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>RATHFON </B>— A private visitation and funeral for John Henry Rathfon, who died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, was held Thursday afternoon at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home </B>in Parker. Burial followed at Perryville Cemetery near Parker.His family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.Information also is available at www.buzardfuneralhomes.com.
