Johanna Maria McCommon

Johanna Maria McCommon, 83, of Brady Township died Wednesday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Natrona, Allegheny County, Dec. 25, 1927, she was the daughter of Gust Larson and Allyce Sowash Larson.

She married Lloyd Frank McCommon Oct. 31, 1944; and he died Aug. 7, 2010.

Mrs. McCommon was a homemaker. Earlier in her life, she had worked at the Slippery Rock Friedman’s store.

She enjoyed crocheting and working with puzzles.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving are two sons, Lloyd G. (Lois) McCommon Sr. of Butler and Milton C. (Diane) McCommon of Dauphin, Dauphin County; and a daughter, Erla V. (James) Gaines of New Kensington. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clark H. Gordon.

MCCOMMON — Private services for family and close friends of Johanna Maria McCommon, who died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, will be at

Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 1 p.m. Sept. 24, with the Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, presiding. Family and close friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Sept 24.
