FORT HILL — The family of a 43-year-old man fatally shot with a bow and arrow says he was carrying a 2-foot-long “stick,” but wasn’t otherwise threatening the man who killed him. State police and the Somerset County District Attorney have yet to decide whether to charge the 38-year-old man they say killed Tony Bittinger, of Fort Hill, because it’s unclear if that man was acting in self-defense. Bittinger’s siblings are telling reporters the victim had been having an affair with the man’s wife and went to check on her well-being when the woman’s husband shot Bittinger in the chest with a compound bow.
