SLIPPERY ROCK — Travis Arrigoni, a sophomore member of the Slippery Rock University men’s cross-country team, was named PSAC Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at last week’s SRU Invitational.

Arrigoni placed first in the 141-runner field with a time of 26 minutes, seven seconds over the 8K course.

Browns DL hurt in motorcycle wreckBEREA, Ohio — Browns defensive lineman Marcus Benard has been injured in a motorcycle accident following practice.Team spokesman Neal Gulkis said Benard is being evaluated at MetroHealth Medical Center following the accident, which happened near Interstate 71 shortly after Benard left the team's training facility. Gulkis said Benard spoke over the phone to team trainer Joe Sheehan.The team does not know the extent of Benard's injuries or his condition.

RB Hillis doubts future with BrownsBEREA, Ohio — Peyton Hillis wanted to retire with the Browns. Now, he's wondering and worrying if he has a future in Cleveland beyond the next 12 games.Hillis, whose stalled negotiations with the team on a contract extension have spawned weeks of analysis, conjecture and rumor, said Monday he has no regrets about sitting out the Sept. 25 game against Miami with strep throat, a decision — reached with the advice of his agent — that fueled reports he missed the game to protest not getting a new deal.

SEC not ready to add more teamsBIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference isn't ready to expand yet.SEC leaders met Monday for their regularly scheduled fall meeting but took no action on expansion.The SEC says in a statement that the presidents and chancellors “discussed a wide range of issues dealing with the changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics” but didn't make any moves on expansion.The SEC is adding a 13th member when Texas A&M joins the league in July.
