Man sentenced to life for killing other man
Kevin E. Campbell was sentencing Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
A Butler County jury last month convicted Campbell of killing 24-year-old Shawn Murphey.
Prosecutors said Campbell, a tattoo artist, shot Murphey in the head with a .357-caliber revolver and robbed him of heroin and money on Christmas Eve 2008.
Murphey’s body was found in the basement of Campbell’s tattoo shop in Lyndora on Jan. 25, 2009.
The jury convicted Campbell of abuse of a corpse and first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.
Judge Timothy McCune, who had presided over Campbell’s five-day jury trial, imposed the sentence on Campbell.
