Car crashes into garage door in Adams Township

ADAMS TWP — A car briefly went airborne before crashing into a home on Mars-Evans City Road this morning.

Grant Settlemire, 32, said his wife returned home from dropping her daughter off at school Friday morning and found police and other emergency vehicles in her driveway.

She also found a Pontiac Grand Am, driven by 19-year old Joshua Konyak of Zelienople, crashed through her garage door.

No one was home at the time of the accident and the driver was not injured.

Konyak was driving north on Mars-Evans City Road and apparently lost control of his car near Adams Township’s border with Callery.

He hit two mailboxes, traveled across Marburger Road, went over a small embankment and hit the garage door.

Settlemire said the car, which sustained significant damage to its front end, hit the garage door but also crashed into a rock wall lining the driveway. The car hit with such force that half the garage door came unhinged and part of the rock wall was displaced.

Emergency personnel from Adams Township, Callery and Evans City responded to the scene.
