It's time to dust off the bowling balls and head to the lanes! Here's hoping that everyone has a great season, and above all, an enjoyable time playing a sport that everyone can be involved in.

Encouragement is a big part of being a good teammate. I am here to encourage you and your team to aim for these USBC team records.• A team called Ray's Boom Boom Room of Maryland rolled 42 consecutive strikes in one game back in 2007.• The O.T. Hills team of Michigan rolled a combined 54 strikes in one game, rolling a 1,413 five-player team score. That's 54 out of a possible 60 strikes!• Of course, bowling is also a game of individual achievements. If you bowl with your wife, you could make the USBC record book if you each roll a perfect game in the same game. Only five married couples have achieved this feat. And to prove that you should never give up, Reed Townley of Alabama is a source of hope. Townley began his league night with games of 89 and 87 before rolling a 300 game!
I want to commend Don Clark of Bon Aire Bowl for preserving duck-pin bowling in the county.Clark purchased the duck-pin lanes from the Knights of Columbus in Butler. Clark installed four of the lanes at Bon Aire Bowl.If you are a bowler looking for a challenge, or if you have kids who would like to be introduced to the game, stop by Bon Aire Bowl.By the way, I was once part of a group of 10-pin bowlers who challenged a group of duck-pin league bowlers a few years back. I was averaging 217 at the time, and my first game was a 48!
If you are a league secretary and would like to send me your league information, send it via e-mail at wiseguyrondo@zoominternet.net. Information needs to be sent by Sunday for publication in the column that week.
