Abandoned house destroyed by fire in Cranberry Township
CRANBERRY TWP — Authorities are investigating a fire early this morning that destroyed an abandoned house off Route 19.
A passing motorist apparently spotted the fire at the house on North Boundary Road and called 911.
The house was ablaze and flames were through the roof when the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighters got to the scene.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from outside and had it under control in less than 30 minutes. No other houses nearby were threatened, authorities said. No one was hurt.
Fire officials did not immediately know how long the one-story house with an attic had been empty.
Assisting the Cranberry VFD were firefighters from Callery and Evans City, as well as Wexford and Marshall Township in Allegheny County.
Authorities said the state police fire marshal's office has been called to help investigate.
Cranberry firefighters remained at the house until about 4:30 a.m.
