Callery council president accuses Evans City of overcharging for sewage service

CALLERY — Council President Ed Conway alleged Tuesday that Evans City has been intentionally overcharging Callery for sewage service for at least 10 years at an estimated cost of more than $100,000.

Callery solicitor Tom Smith has reviewed financial records back to 2005, Conway said, and found that Evans City allegedly had been overcharging the borough about $1,000 a month, or $12,000 a year.

Conway said he suspects that the overcharging stretches back to the beginning of an intermunicipal agreement signed in 1988 that governs sewage between the two boroughs.
