Charged with killing his father and stepmother in Brady Township, Colin Abbott at a brief hearing in a New Jersey courtroom announced this morning that he would not fight extradition.

"(Abbott) voluntarily waived his extradition rights and agreed to voluntarily return to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Capt. Jeffrey S. Paul of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities now have until the end of the month to pick up Abbott, 40, of Randolph, N.J., who has been held in the Morris County Jail since his arrest July 14.

Abbott is charged with killing Kenneth Abbott, 65, and Celeste Abbott, 55, at their home on West Liberty Road in early June. Police believe the couple's bodies were dismembered with some parts burned and others scattered around the couple's 25-acre estate, according to court documents.;

State police say he tried to cover up the killings by telling relatives the couple had died in a fiery car crash in New Jersey last month.

By law, Pennsylvania authorities have 10 days to take custody of Abbott, who will be placed in the Butler County Prison to await a preliminary hearing on two counts of homicide.

It was not immediately known if Abbott was represented by an attorney at this morning's hearing.
