Sliders slip past Miners
Three Slippery Rock pitchers combined to limit the West Virginia Miners to just one run on three hits as the visiting Sliders won 3-1 in Prospect League baseball play on Monday.
Heath Horvath started the game and allowed one run on three hits, striking out six and walking one in seven innings to earn the victory.
Danny Ossiginac worked a scoreless eighth and Chase Byerly did so in the ninth to earn the save.
All three runs for Slippery Rock (5-6) came in the top of the third inning. David Leon managed a run-scoring double and Ethan Santora a two-run single.
The Sliders split their games over the weekend. Slippery Rock scored a 6-5 win over the Richmond RiverRats on Saturday before falling by a 7-5 margin on Sunday to the Lorain County Ironmen.
