BENTON, N.Y. — Authorities say five people have been killed and eight injured in a crash involving a farm tractor and two other vehicles in western New York.

Yates County Sheriff Ronald Spike said that about 15 people were involved in the crash. He says five people were pronounced dead at the scene and eight more were taken to hospitals.

At least four people were entangled in the wreckage before they were removed by emergency responders.

A dispatcher says four helicopters, several fire departments and about a dozen ambulance services were called to the scene.
