Cranberry Township resident Brent Rodgers won the Boys 15-16 division at a junior golf tournament at The Country Club in Meadville on Monday.Rodgers tied New Castle's Lucas Villani with 35 strokes before the Cranberry native won on the first playoff hole.

LOS ANGELES — Southern California tailback Marc Tyler has been suspended from all team activities and the Trojans' season opener for comments he made to TMZ that implied he gets paid to play for USC.When asked by TMZ whether he could make more money at USC or in the NFL, Tyler said, "USC, they breaking bread," making a gesture indicating a large stack of money. USC coach Lane Kiffin suspended his leading rusher for the Sept. 3 opener and possibly longer. The fifth-year senior is facing potential discipline from the school after what he said were two alcohol-related problems in April.
BRISTOL, Conn. — The Women's World Cup final earned the highest television rating for any soccer game on an ESPN network.Japan's comeback to beat the United States in a penalty shootout Sunday drew a 7.4 fast national rating. The previous high was a 4.0 for last year's U.S.-Algeria men's World Cup match.With an average of almost 13.5 million viewers, it was the sixth most watched soccer telecast ever in the United States.
