PITTSBURGH — The state Public Utility Commission will have a public hearing Tuesday morning to hear a proposal from a company that wants to expand its taxi services in to southern Butler County.

The Pittsburgh Transportation Group, the parent company of Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh, will outline the company’s plan to offer service to areas such as Cranberry Township, Seven Fields, Mars and Adams Township.

The service expansion also would include municipalities in northern Allegheny County such as Marshall Township, Bradford Woods, Pine Township and Franklin Park.

The hearing will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Public Utility Commission’s offices at Piatt Place in downtown Pittsburgh.

“We have had requests from residents and hotel operators for service in the Greater North Hills,” Jamie Campolongo, president and chief executive officer of Pittsburgh Transportation Group, said in a news release. “The calls have complained about a lack of service in the area, especially after 5 p.m.

“As the largest cab operator in Western Pennsylvania, we believe we can fill that gap.”

The release stated the company has 350 cabs and employs the services of more than 425 independent contractors. Campolongo also said he has “no doubt” the company can serve the area effectively.
