PITTSBURGH — The United Way of Allegheny County is rolling out a ‘211’ information line for homeowners in 11 southwestern Pennsylvania counties who might need federal home foreclosure assistance.

The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development gave Pennsylvania $105 million last year to aid homeowners who fell behind on their mortgages by 90 days or more and whose income dipped 15 percent or more due to employment problems or illness.

The hot line was announced at a news conference in Pittsburgh Monday because, so far, only $27 million in aid has been committed.
