Jason Orfao is a new sports reporter and sports copy editor for the Butler Eagle.
He will cover a variety of sporting events and school teams. He also will edit and produce sports pages in the paper.
Orfao, 26, formerly was the sports editor of The Titusville Herald.
He is a 2008 graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in print journalism.
Henry Bartony III of Butler won his age division in the U.S. Kids Pittsburgh local junior golf tournament recently at Pittsburgh North.Bartony carded a 40 in the nine-hole event.
The 11U Penn-Ohio Fusion baseball team — which features Butler County natives — traveled to Bowling Green, Ohio, to participate in the Nations Baseball Ohio State Tournament from June 15-19. The team went undefeated during the tournament, earning the state title.Penn-Ohio has participated in nine tournaments, winning five championships — The GLBL State Qualifier, The Beaver Valley Mother’s Day Classic, The Team Sports Nations Qualifier, The GLBL Memorial Tournament and the Battle of the Bats Qualifier.Currently, the Fusion hold a record of 38-6, and their latest triumph has vaulted Penn-Ohio up the Nations Baseball National Rankings.Butler County natives on the team include Trent Vandervort (Boyers), Hunter Fitzingo (Boyers) and Jacob Jewart (Chicora).
