Firefighters prevent blaze from spreading in Jackson
JACKSON TWP — Firefighters Thursday night prevented a trash can fire from spreading beyond a storefront at the Northgate Plaza shopping center.
Chief Neal Nanna of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Company said a passer-by tried to extinguish the blaze at the state store with a fire extinguisher.
He said firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes.
Nanna estimated damages to the store at $2,000.
A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
Thirty-five firefighters responded to the 11:06 p.m. 911 call. The Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department and Harmony EMS assisted Harmony firefighters at the scene.
Crews cleared the scene at 11:57 p.m.
