BlueSox, Sliders suffer defeats
Michael Burke, Zak Blair, Sam Alvis and Jon Koepf each tripled and drove in two runs apiece to power the Lorain County (Ohio) Ironmen to a 13-2 victory over the visiting Butler BlueSox in Prospect League play Tuesday.
Jeff Cola added a double and two singles to aid the Ironmen, who rapped out 15 hits.
Shayne Houck and Brian Lares each doubled while Taylor Duran singled and added an RBI for Butler (10-13), which trailed 10-0 after three innings.
• The Richmond River Rats scored four runs in the fourth inning and seven more in the seventh inning to cruise to a 13-1 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders (8-15).
Mitch Elliott and Tell Taylor each doubled and singled and David Leon added a double. Elliott drove in the lone Sliders run.
Nolan Earley singled, homered and drove in four runs while Rob McPike and Josh Denny each doubled and added two singles to lead a 15-hit Richmond (14-10) attack.
Drew Mitrisin picked up the win with eight strikeouts and one walk over seven innings.
Both teams are in action tonight. The Sliders play the River Rats again in Richmond while the BlueSox return home to face Lorain County.
