DORMONT — A trespassing citation has been dropped against a southwestern Pennsylvania elected official who entered the police department's area of the borough building to contest a parking ticket.

The sergeant who issued Dormont borough manager Gino Rizza the citation has been demoted to patrolman as part of an agreement with the department's union.

The arrangement reached Wednesday also specifies the oversight duties belonging to the borough's mayor, council and manager.

The acting chief had been suspended by the council for disabling GPS devices in police patrol cars at the mayor's request. The mayor then tried to put another sergeant on paid leave for reactivating them.
