PITTSBURGH — Police in Pittsburgh say officers shot a domestic violence suspect during a standoff after he raised a sawed-off shotgun at them.

Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki says police repeatedly shouted “Drop the gun!” after the suspect emerged from a house in the Larimer neighborhood. But he says 36-year-old David Bush lifted his weapon and one round went off.

Members of the SWAT team then fired and hit Bush, critically wounding him.

Police initially responded to the house Wednesday morning after a 911 call from Bush’s ex-girlfriend. Police say she alleged Bush threatened her at her house before going home to Larimer.

Police say Bush will be charged with several offenses. He was already out on bail after being charged in March with an alleged road-rage shooting.
