Butler destination for blues band
The Fabulous Thunderbirds will play Aug. 13 for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
The popular blues band will headline a four-act concert at the Butler County Fairgrounds as part of the festival’s weekend of activities.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds are most known for their 1980s hits “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap it Up.”
While they are famous for their energetic blues sounds, the group also successfully plays a variety of music styles. Original band member Kim Wilson sings lead vocals. The remaining Thunderbirds are Mike Keller, guitar; Johnny Moeller, guitar; Joey Moeller, drums; and Randy Bermudes, bass.
The three other acts to perform Aug. 13 feature artists with Pittsburgh-regional connections.
The Billy Price Band has been touring the East Coast for three decades. Known as the East Coast blue-eyed soul man, Price and his band have a loyal following of fans throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Country music fans will enjoy performances by the Joe Zelek Band and show-opener Sydney Hutchko, a Butler native.
The tentative show schedule is: Sydney Hutchko at 5:45 p.m., Joe Zelek Band at 6:45, Billy Price Band at 8 p.m., and Fabulous Thunderbirds at 9:30 p.m.
The festival opens at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 and concert gates open at 5 p.m. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show.
The concert is included in the $7 tickets for adults and $3 tickets for children.
Reserved seat tickets for the concert can be purchased online for an additional $10 at http://bantamjeepfestival.showclix.com until Aug. 11 and then at the gate on Aug. 13.
Concert-goers may take lawn chairs and blankets for the show. Coolers and outside food and beverages are not permitted.
The festival will run Aug. 12 to 14 to celebrate Butler’s role as the birthplace of the Jeep. Activities will take place downtown and at the fairgrounds.
Nearly 1,000 Jeeps from more than 20 states and Canada are expected.
