MIDDLESEX TWP — The chairman of the township supervisors resigned just one day after winning the primary unopposed, it was announce this morning.

Mark Vincent placed his letter of resignation on the desk of township manager Scot Fodi, who found it Friday.

His resignation was effective Wednesday.

In a news release this morning, Fodi said, “It was dated May 18th and according to the remaining members of the board, Mark handed them the resignation letter after they adjourned from an executive session during which they discussed personnel matters in all municipal departments.

“I did talk to Mark on Friday morning and, although I did press him for a reason for his resignation, I respected his wishes that the reason or reasons remain personal.”

Vincent was elected as a supervisor in 2005 after serving on an ad hoc finance committee formed in 2004 to review township finances.

Fodi said remaining supervisors Mike Spreng and Don Marshall have until June 17 to appoint a person to fill Vincent’s seat until his term expires on Dec. 31.

Fodi said he will talked to Butler County Bureau of Elections regarding filling the six-year term Vincent won in the primary.

He said those interested in filling Vincent’s term can submit a letter to the township by June 3. Fodi said interviews will be held during a supervisors meeting.
