PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has temporarily suspended its adult living-donor kidney transplant program because of an unspecified issue the hospital network has reported to the United Network for Organ Sharing.

Vice president of public relations Paul Wood tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that UPMC expects to resume such transplants in the “very near term.” Wood didn't say what prompted the suspension, but says it was voluntary and didn't stem from the death of a donor or recipient.
