BUTLER TWP — Teachers’ and administrators’ health care contributions will triple in the Butler School District through 2013-14, under an agreement approved this morning by the Butler School Board.

Supplemental contract pay, such as that for coaches, will be frozen for the next three years.

With this agreement, the district will save $749,323 per year or $2.25 million through 2013-14, administrators said.

The teachers union approved the agreement April 20 by a 439 to 39 vote.

Monthly health care contributions will increase to $60 per individual and $75 or $90 per family. Currently they run between $20 and $30 per month.

Increased health care contributions by administrators and high-level managers will save the district an additional $22,200 per year.

The administrators pay the same health care rates as do the teachers.

Adjustments to the teachers’ contract through 2013-14 include:

• Frozen tuition reimbursements

• Frozen hourly rates, including reductions in supervision and duties such as bus monitors

• Frozen compensation levels for department chairpersons

Also, the teachers’ contract was extended another year through 2014-15, with that year’s pay rates still to be decided.
