FREEPORT — Freeport senior Anna Christy was named one of four WPIAL Scholar-Athlete Award winners at the annual District 7 membership meeting last week.
Christy was recognized for athletic achievement, academic excellence and school/community service. She receives a $5,000 scholarship and will be honored at a luncheon May 16.
Captain of the Yellowjackets' volleyball, girls basketball and softball teams, Christy was an all-state volleyball player, National Honor Society member, and volunteer in the Key Club, Special Olympic basketball and skiing, volleyball and basketball clinics, and her church.
