It wasn't the most inconspicuous getaway vehicle ever used in a robbery.

And in the end, the pickup truck used by the suspects with the words “Angel in Disguise” in large pink lettering on the back window, helped give them away.

Barely two hours after the Mars National Bank in Penn Township was robbed shortly before noon Wednesday, police arrested the suspects at their home in Butler.

David A. Vriendt, 37, and William L. Hatfield, 29, are in the Butler County Prison today on six-figure bail.

The pair was caught with the loot stolen from the Penn Township bank as well as a Butler Township bank in a holdup the day before.

The men are charged only with the heist at the Mars National Bank on Route 8. But, investigators said they would be charged probably next week with Tuesday's robbery at the S&T Bank on New Castle Road in Butler Township.

Both men, each with an extensive criminal record, only recently got out of state prison for crimes, including robbery.
