Stephen George Fleming, 67, died suddenly Friday at his home in Marietta, Ohio, after a brief illness.

He was born June 4, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Herbert Fleming Sr. and Angela Niggel Fleming.

During the Vietnam War, Steve served with the U.S. Army in Germany.

He retired from General Motors after 27 years.

Steve enjoyed gardening and cooking. In his younger days, he was an expert pool player.

He was a locksmith and a meticulous craftsman, taking pride in a job well done.

As a member of a musically talented family, Steve played guitar, banjo, uke and the organ.

He was a pleasant, soft-spoken man who will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Steve is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Wienman Fleming; and three children, Marc, Shawn and Paula; and a granddaughter, Andrea Cassidy, all of Marietta. Also surviving are two brothers, Herbert D. Fleming Jr. and his wife, Gayle, of Sarver and Richard Fleming and his wife, Sue, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.; and one sister, Rosemary Appeldorn and her husband, Jerry, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He also is survived by an uncle, Albert Niggel, and an aunt, Kathryn Fleming, both of Butler; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, Gerald and Donald Fleming.

<B>FLEMING</B> — Funeral arrangements for Stephen George Fleming, who died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, were entrusted to the <B>Hadley Funeral Home</B>, Reno, Ohio, and interment was in Newport, Ohio.
