Ida Jane Bean

Ida Jane (Fordyce) Bean, 94, of Concordia at Lund, Cabot, formerly of Butler, passed away Saturday in the Good Samaritan Hospice.

She was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Meadville, to the late David and Margaret (Anderson) Fordyce.

She graduated from the Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Bean was a homemaker, enjoyed playing bridge and doing handcrafts, which included knitting, crewel, needlepoint and decoupage. Additionally, she loved reading and was a member of the Butler Reading Club.

As an active member of the G.F.W.C. Woman's Club in Butler, she served as president from 1982-1986. She was a member of the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 68 years, Dr. Carl B. Bean; her daughter, Mary Bates of Maple Shade, N.J.; and her son, John and his wife, Debra, of Midlothian, Va. She also has three nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Jessie Bausman, Helen Fordyce, Margaret Fordyce and Alex Fordyce.

<B>BEAN</B> — Friends of Ida Jane (Fordyce) Bean, who died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lund Chapel at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot. Interment will be private for the family.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, Saxonburg, and information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
