Wilbert C. 'Web' Rasely Sr.
Wilbert C. “Web” Rasely Sr., 85, of Butler passed away Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in Herman, March 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Floyd W. and Estella Wolfe Rasely.
Since January 1953, he owned and operated W.C. Rasely Resellers, a distributor of Exxon products, on Zeigler Avenue in Butler.
He graduated from Butler High School, but because he was called to active duty during World War II, he did not receive his diploma until Nov. 7, 2001.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years, and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
An avid antique car collector, he was a member of the Bantam Car Club, the Hudson Hornet Club and the Metropolitan Car Club. He also was a dedicated model train collector whose particular interest was Lionel trains.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Shuler Rasely, to whom he was married for 62 years; two sons, Wilbert C. “Bub” Rasely Jr. and his wife, Kathi, of Butler and James C. Rasely and his wife, Michele, of Slippery Rock; three daughters, M. Stephanie Hook and her husband, Jim, of East Butler, Roberta “Susie” Zanicky and her husband, Dave, of Butler and Cheryl “Peter” Cobern and her husband, Steve, of Butler; nine grandchildren, Dave Zanicky and his wife, Stacy, of Fenelton, Michele Lynn of Lyndora, Kristen McIntyre of East Butler, Justin Cobern of Butler, Allysa Rasely of Slippery Rock, Lacey Rasely of Slippery Rock, Sara Cobern of Butler, Cassie Rasely of Slippery Rock and Abby Cobern of Butler; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Joseph Rasely, who passed away in 1951.
<B>RASELY </B>— Friends of Wilbert C. “Web” Rasely Sr., who died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church Thursday at 9:35 a.m. to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
