Joseph L. Oravecz
Joseph L. Oravecz, 83, of Hilliards passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Orchard Manor in Grove City.
He was born May 24, 1927, in Higgins Corners, Venango Township. He was the son of the late John Oravecz and the late Nellie Godovecz Oravecz.
He was a member of the Hilliards Methodist Church.
He was the last surviving member of the Hilliards Methodist Church Building Committee that supervised the rebuilding of the church in 1955.
He had been employed at Michigan Limestone and retired from U.S. Steel in Saxonburg.
He loved to garden and share his vegetables with friends and neighbors. He also was a volunteer at Lifesteps.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca M. Oravecz, who he married Oct. 3, 1949; one daughter, Cynthia Jo Mannucci and her husband, Jerry, of Springfield, Va.; one grandson, Jerrod BJ Mannucci; and two sisters, Ann Kornic of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Fred (Nellie) Blair of West Middlesex.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
<B>ORAVECZ</B> — Friends of Joseph L. Oravecz, who died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Rosewood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the general fund of the Hilliards Methodist Church.
