George S. Kostecky
George S. “Moe” Kostecky, 64, of Lyndora passed away Friday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice following a two-year battle with liver cancer and cirrhosis.
Born Aug. 6, 1946, in Butler, he was a son of George W. and Anna Lenyk Kostecky.
A 1964 graduate of North High School in Youngstown, Ohio, he came to live with his uncle George “Bing” Lenyk in Lyndora and started working at the Pullman Standard plant until it closed in 1981. Moe then worked in home remodeling and construction until April 1989 when he became employed at the Penn Champ plant in East Butler, until it was closed in 2005.
In 2006, he graduated from the New Castle School of Trades as an electrician and worked for Electrical Wiring by Dennis Hindman in Butler.
In 1995, Moe started his own Disc Jockey business “Moe's Sounds” with his wife. He was the regular weekend DJ at the Huddle Lounge in Butler. Health reasons forced his retirement in October 2009.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Judy McPherson Kostecky, who he married Aug. 27, 1966; three brothers, Edward (Linda) Kostecky of Masury, Ohio, Robert (Irene) Kostecky of Toledo, Ohio, and Richard (Linda) Kostecky of Butler; one sister, Evelyn Darlene Kostecky of Youngstown, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Lillian Kostecky of Butler; two aunts; one uncle, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, George “Bing” Lenyk; his brother, Donald Kostecky, his aunts, Annabelle, Carolyn Sue, Pauline, Mimi, Mary and Judy; uncles, Chuck and Paul; and one grandniece, Grace Ann Claypoole.
<B>KOSTECKY</B> — Friends of George S. “Moe” Kostecky, who died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, with Dennis Hindman, lay minister, officiating. Private interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park cemetery. A luncheon reception in the church hall will follow the ceremony.The family suggests that memorial donations be made to either the VNA Inpatient Hospice or to UPMC Liver Cancer Center at Montefiore Hospital, 7S, 3459 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
