Annabelle Ekis

Annabelle Ekis, 81, of Boyers passed away at 9:10 a.m. Friday at the Grove City Medical Center.

She was born July 31, 1929 in Fenelton. She was the daughter of the late Enrico Parenti and the late Julia Parenti.

She was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church.

She was very active in the community and the church, being a member of the auxiliary at the church and the Marion Township Fire Department.

She had been employed at Slippery Rock University in food services and maintenance for more than 22 years.

She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

She is survived by two sons, Chester Gerald Ekis, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Cranberry Township, and Michael D. Ekis and his fiancé, Stephanie Williams, of Emsworth; two grandchildren, Russell and Cassie Zoelle of Evans City and Sommer and Brian Safreed of Beaver Falls; two great-grandchildren, Landyn Davis and Mark Russell; two sisters, Teresa “Tess” Nagy of Boyers and Dyane Parenti of Boyers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester G. Ekis Sr., who died Jan. 27, 1989; two sisters; and five brothers.

<B>EKIS</B> — Friends of Annabelle Ekis, who died Friday, Feb. 11, 2010, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Epiphany Catholic Church in Boyers with the Rev. James Bedillion of St. Alphonsus Parish officiating. Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery.
