Marylouise W. Curtis, 92, formerly of Mount Chestnut, passed away Wednesday at Concordia, where she had been a resident for several years.

Born in Rochester, N.Y., Feb. 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (Borland) Wells.

While living in Massachusetts, she was a member of the Easthampton Church, the superintendent of the church school from 1952 to 1957 and was a former president of the following Easthampton organizations: the Helping Hand Society, the Tuesday Afternoon Club and the Historical Society. In her earlier years, she led Cub and Girl Scout troops, PTA, community affairs and various church activities, including being honored as a deacon emeritus.

After moving to Mount Chestnut, she was a member of her son's church, the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, served as a church deacon and would lend a helping hand in church activities.

She was a member of the United Methodist Quilters in Butler and the Mt. Chestnut Senior Center. She enjoyed crafts, quilting and flowers.

She is survived by two sons, Richard W. (Donna) Curtis of Cape Cod, Mass., and the Rev. Jeffrey A. (Kay) Curtis of Mount Chestnut; one daughter, Mrs. Ellis (Barbara) Baker of Cape Cod, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother; John Wells of Yadkinville, N.C.; two sisters, Juanita Wells Ashman of Spencerport, N.Y., and Barbara Wells of Cape Cod, Mass.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orman P. Curtis, who passed away April 20, 2009; and one sister.
